Analogical thinking

Hi hi guys, if you notice i just posted 3 blog at one day. It is because : the first one should have been posted 3 weeks ago but there were some errors and i just noticed that earlier today so i have to republish it. Then the second one should be this blog but it requires me to take some pictures on my own and not mentioning that it will cut my nap time...oops. Anyway i have, finally, gathered my long-gone-will-power to start catching up my late blog. And here i am, trying to open this blog.

The theme of this blog is analogical thinking. Analogical thinking is a thinking that uses one or more references as sources, adopt the ideas and use it for another problems. In class, we had to wander around and looking for things that has facial expressions. We got many interesting expressions from various items such as doors, windows, plugs, tree's bark, buttons and many more. Below are some of the example.

But then we have a quite similar homework to post pictures of random things that expresses different emotions, but in a single theme. At first, i was a little bit confuse because the emotions are varied widely. But then  i choose 'Valentine's day' as my theme.

In valentines day, most people are happy because they are having a romantic date with their partner. They go grinning all day because they receive flowers and chocolates from their loved-ones.

As the view of kissing or hugging couples are very common to see.

They seems very satisfied with their love life.

Unfortunately, not all are having as good valentine as them. The rest are facing their daily routine with a straight face.

Some show their dislikeness toward the day and the people that showing too much unimportant affection, according too them.

But some cannot help but wonder, when is their turn to feel the hearty day and get all cute stuff from their special someone. Sigh. For all the singles in the world, i feel you.

And that sums all the common feelings and expressions in the valentines day. Which one are you?

Forced Connection

Halt people!! Sorry for the late blog, actually there is supposed to be one more blog before this, but these week are kinda rough and im in a super lazy mode, so yeah. Anyway the topic of this week is a forced connection. A forced connection is basically the brain's ability to connect two or more totally different and random  things such as words, objects, feelings, and ideas. The purpose of this activity is to brainstorm ideas and to see something with a different point of view.

For me personally, i think the idea is pretty fun and challenging at the same time, because it triggers us to think outside of the box without really cares about the barrier and the wrong possibility. It is kind of like lateral thinking, only it is clearer in the way of what things to relate to get a different kind of result, unlike lateral thinking that seems more blur in how we got the idea.

Anyway, this week activity at class we have to make force connection out of an object and some feelings. The teacher provides us some object to choose such as pencil, computer mouse, clock, cup, and candle. I chose computer mouse. Then i have to link it with 6 feelings such as passionate, sad, brave, creative, greedy, and hardworking.

First, i make the passionate mouse that has such features that is user friendly and very comfortable to use. The mouse covers the whole hand and has flexible material with air circulation so it creates a nice surrounding for the hand. It has detector to make sure the hand always in a fit condition, or else it will automatically activate the hand massage attached inside the mouse. It is also wireless and anti lagging to maximize the comfort of the user.

The second one is a sad mouse that has a small simple cube design that isn't fit to hand at all. It is slightly too small and hard to grip. It has short wire cable and often go lagging.

The third is a brave mouse. This is actually a negative kind of brave because the mouse are designed to be able to wrap itself with a strongest metal after 24 hours and wont be able to be use until it is fully recovered, which may takes several month. It wont work despite we are the one who purchase and considered as their master. The other name for this mouse is how-dare-you-mouse.

The fourth is a creative mouse that literally shaped up like mouse and the wire takes part as its tail. And there is one more creative mouse that has a shape of embracing hand. So once the user uses the mouse it will look like a holding hand.

The fifth is a greedy mouse that has every possible build-in features in the mouse including cup holder, heart rate measurements, board game, clock, map, satellite, and so on and so on.

The last is a hardworking mouse which able to process a hundred click per second and made with a very strong steel that can cope with any kind of user.

It is altogether looks like this. At first it is uncolor, but i feel it too empty and too many word then add some colors. It is still looks undecent and messy, though, but it is the best effort i can make right now, apologies.

There are many examples of forced connection artworks. Many things we don't realized but actually are created from forced connection, such as our advanced smart phone that has everything inside including camera, etc, etc. Or even until the weirdest invention that actually pretty mind-blowing such as cup holder hat. Maybe a simple spoon with a fork in one grip? You can invent something new by yourself too, you know.. As easy as putting things together :) good luck!

Inspired by Nature

It is obvious that everything we have come from nature. Or else, where do they come from? It is true that people have developed so much and the technology we have right now is advancing very quickly. Even so, people have to admit that nature taught so many important lessons to the human being, right from the start until now on. People also get inspired by so many things in nature. The inspiration could be in many ways such as the form, how things work etc

It awes me how much people get inspired by nature and produce many beautiful things out of it.
However right now, I will only show you 2 of so many things that people get inspired by forms in nature. The first one is at clothing.

All the pictures above show clothing pieces that either looks like various kind of flower, leaves, and butterfly. But not all necessarily have to be beautiful. Some clothing inspired by nature could be creepy too sometimes. The pictures below are some of Maiko Takeda's hat and clothes that inspired by caterpillar.

The second things that resemble form in nature is lamp. Well, maybe not the usual lamp, but some of these lamps do! On the second thought, i feel like a shape of light bulb quite mimicked a water drop, don't you think so?

Above is a chandelier that looks like icicles by  William Brand and Annet Van Egmond.

The other chandeliers above resemble the look of tree branches, whether it is a pine branches, leafy and flowery branches, or any dead branches.

Another lamps looks after various flowers, and even mushroom!

In the end, we know that nature takes a big part in our life and many things actually inspired by the beauty or even the oddness of nature. However all we need is to embrace and be grateful of the nature around us and do our best to preserve it. Cheers!!
